About Museum of York County
Take your meeting, banquet or cocktail party on an African safari at the Museum of York County. The Junior Welfare League of Rock Hill opened the Children’s Nature Museum in Fewell Park on August 4, 1950. In 1965, construction of a new building on Mount Gallant Road was completed, and in 1976, the museum was renamed the Museum of York County. Today, the museum houses one of the largest collection of mounted African animals in the Southeast.
Available for rent are the museum’s auditorium, Elephant Hall and upstairs classroom. The museum’s outstanding collection of mounted African animals in naturalistic settings and African artifacts provide a unique backdrop in the Elephant Hall.
Rental prices for up to 225 people begin at $1,200.
