It’s time for Countdown to Kindergarten!
ROCK HILL, SC – The Main Street Children’s Museum will offer free admission during the 11th annual Countdown to Kindergarten on Thursday, August 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Old Town. Outside on Main Street, over thirty community exhibitors will provide activities that will encourage young learners to get off to a good start. An educational festival that supports rising kindergarteners’ transition into school, Countdown to Kindergarten is free to families.
For the event, educators, community members, and families come together to ensure that early learners embrace kindergarten in a welcoming way. Countdown to Kindergarten connects families with local agencies to learn about available educational, health, and community resources. The Rock Hill Fire Department will be on site with a fire truck. The York County Library will have the Book Mobile. Families can meet and talk to a pediatrician, a school nurse, and a Kindergarten teacher. Children can practice boarding a school bus. There will be giveaways and more!
Countdown to Kindergarten will once again feature award-winning, family-approved, children’s musician Roger Day. The 2013 DVD/CD release, “Marsh Mud Madness,” earned Roger Day his 5th Parents’ Choice© Award. His witty and energized tunes urges kids to reach their potential by using body and brain, mind and muscle. Roger will perform a selection of his family favorites at 5:15 and 6:15 p.m. on stage at Main and Hampton Streets. Learn more about Roger Day at http://www.rogerday.com.
Countdown to Kindergarten is a partnership between the Culture & Heritage Museums, York County First Steps, York County School Districts, Comporium, and Family Trust Credit Union.
