Q. When is the Museum of York County open?
A. Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday 1-5 p.m.
Q. What are admission prices?
A. Admission is FREE every Sunday! Regular admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for youth ages 4-17. CHM members and children 3 and younger are admitted free.
Q. How long should I plan to spend at the Museum of York County?
A. Most visitors spend about an hour visiting the museum.
Q. Do you sell concessions at the museum?
A. The only food available for purchase is a vending machine. Food and drink are not allowed in museum galleries.
Q. How can I learn about area dining and lodging?
A. Visit the York County Convention and Visitors’ Bureau website, www.visityorkcounty.com.
Q. What type of bathroom facilities does the museum have?
A. The Museum of York County has clean, handicap-accessible bathrooms.
Q. Is the museum handicap accessible?
A. All public areas in the museum are accessible.
Q. Are wheelchairs available for use at the museum?
A. There is one wheelchair available for loan on site.
Q. Is there a charge for parking?
A. Parking is free at the museum.
Q. How long has the museum been at the current location?
A. The Museum of York County opened at its current site in 1965. The museum originally opened in 1950 as the Children’s Nature Museum of Rock Hill, located at Fewell Park.
Q. When is the planetarium open?

Q. How long is the nature trail at the museum?
A. There is a 3/4 mile nature trail with picnic facilities at the museum. There is no admission required to use the trail.
Q. Can strollers be taken on the trail?
A. Strollers are permitted on the trail, although it may be difficult.
Q. Is the trail open at night?
A. The trail is open only during museum hours.
Q. When is the Museum Store open?
A. The Museum Store is open the same hours as the museum, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sunday. You need not pay museum admission to visit the Museum Store.
Q. Can I rent the museum for parties?
A. Some of our galleries are available for rental.
Q. May I take pictures or video at the museum?
A. Guests are welcome to take pictures or video for personal use. Professionals must have prior approval and pay a fee for use. Image use other than for one-time educational use requires permission from the Culture & Heritage Museums. All images and graphics are under copyright unless otherwise noted. A. The Museum of York County is part of the Culture & Heritage Museums, a linked system of cultural sites in York County, SC owned by York County. It is operated by the Culture & Heritage Commission and partially funded by York County, the Culture & Heritage Foundation and private donations.
