Q. What hours is the McCelvey Center open?
A. The Historical Center of York County is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. The McCelvey Center is open extended hours for special events.
Q. What are admission prices?
A. There is no general admission to the McCelvey Center. See prices for performances and special events.
Q. Is the McCelvey Center handicap-accesible?
A. The McCelvey Center is handicap-accessible. Handicap parking is located behind the building, providing elevator access to the first and second floors. Accessible bathrooms are located on the second floor.
Q. Do you sell concessions?
A. Food is not sold during regular business days at the McCelvey Center, but food is occasionally available during special events. A soft drink vending machine is available on the first level.
Q. Is there a charge for parking at the McCelvey Center?
A. The McCelvey Center has plentiful free parking.
Q. Can I buy tickets to the McCelvey Series online?
A. Not currently.

Q. What kind of research programs do you offer?
A. The Historical Center of York County’s Ancestors & Archives Series educational workshops take place on designated Saturdays each month from 11-11:45 a.m. Workshops are free and open to the public.
Q. What types of classes are offered at McCelvey?
A. Many area organizations hold classes, workshops and meetings at the McCelvey Center. Please contact those organizations directly for more information.
Q. Do you handle reservations for the ball field at McCelvey?
A. Reservations for the ball field are handled by the City of York Recreation Department.
Q. Is the McCelvey Center available for rent?
A. Yes. The 560-seat theater, a reception hall and meeting rooms are available for rent. Click here for more information about renting space for your event.

Q. How is the McCelvey Center funded?
A. The McCelvey Center is part of the Culture & Heritage Museums, a linked system of cultural sites in York County, SC, and owned by York County. It is operated by the Culture and Heritage Commission and partially funded by York County, the Culture and Heritage Foundation and private donations.
