Join us at our annual event, "By the Sweat of Our Brows," as we honor the legacy of African-Americans who were enslaved at Brattonsville, as well as their descendants, known today as the "Seven Sacred Families."

• “Jumping the Broom” wedding traditions
• Hands-on activities based on the work and play of the enslaved
• Music performances 
• Winthrop University Professor Dr. Gillam will discuss recent archaeology investigations at Brattonsville that may have connections to the enslaved on the Bratton plantation
• Vendors highlighting African-American arts and crafts
• Food concessions for sale by local food vendor Kenny Liles Fish Fry
• WU Professor Stacey Davidson and students will do portrait drawings of the descendants of the enslaved
• Descendant Dr. Lisa Bratton will discuss family connections to the Bratton plantation
• Meet other descendants of the enslaved on the Bratton plantation
• Reading of the names of African-Americans who were enslaved on the Bratton Plantation
