Event Description:
From humble church gospel choir beginnings to Top 40 cover tunes with the U.S. Navy Band to the legendary Austin, Texas music scene, Ruthie Foster’s eclectic musical history forms the foundation for her combustible blend of soul, blues, rock, folk, and gospel. She is a multiple Blues Music Award winner, receiving the Koko Taylor Award for Traditional Female Artist of the Year in 2011 and 2012 and, in 2010, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album for The Truth According to Ruthie Foster. Foster’s latest album, Let It Burn, was released in January 2012 and features The Blind Boys of Alabama and soul legend William Bell.
