Spring is in full swing and that means it is time for Historic Brattonsville’s Gulf Coast Heritage Breed sheep to get their annual haircuts. Watch our wooly flock go from shaggy to shorn during live sheep shearing demonstrations. You will appreciate the work of an old-fashioned sheep shearer, learn how raw fleece is carded, dyed with natural indigo dye and spun into wool. You won’t want to miss hearing the “baa baa” and counting our thirteen newborn lambs!
Enjoy the day’s activities. Bring a blanket and a picnic lunch or purchase delicious food from the Friends of Historic Brattonsville. Proceeds from the sale of foods support Historic Brattonsville programs.
Admission: Adult $6; Senior $5; Youth 4-17 $3; CHM members and children 3 and under admitted free.
