Visit the site of the future Stans Museum of Life and the Environment (MLE) - a wonderful exhibition in its own right. Four-hundred acres of land adjacent to the Catawba River were donated by Jane Spratt McColl to the Culture and Heritage Foundation in 1998. Guided tours of the site include a treatise of the past (evidence of the ancient Catawba River basin, fish weirs, gold prospecting pits, a historic homestead), the present (prairie habitats, the endangered Schweinitz’s sunflower, crossroads of transportation that are I-77 and the river) and the future (the new museum and sustainable community project). The Stans Museum of Life and the Environment landscape is a shining example of the dynamics of “people and place.” The tour will culminate at the very footprint of the new museum on an overlook that grants an impressive view of the current river environment and things to come. Tours are free.

Tours are free and will last approximately one and one-half hours. Call Steve Fields at 803.329.2121 ext. 110 for more information and to secure your space.
